about

"Inertia" is the first single from the new project VENUS, a collaboration between songwriter Samora Pinderhughes and producer Jack DeBoe.

A Note From Samora:
"These are true tales, true feelings and experiences from my life, opened up through the music. My hope is that by being vulnerable and brutally honest with my complicated experiences, it makes space for you to do the same, and for us all to share with each other and unburden ourselves of these things we carry. As Jack and I have started to go out and perform some of these songs, we’ve seen how many people connect deeply with these themes and these songs. We’ve seen them make people cry, make them laugh, make them talk, make them think and feel. We're so excited to share with you, and to keep sharing - this is just the beginning."

lyrics

(lyrics by Samora Pinderhughes)

Inertia
Call my name, inertia
It's all a game, to you
Don't you see what you put me through
Don't you see what you put me through

Inertia
Call my name, in person
It's all the same, it's true
Provide the paint, I'll play the fool
Before I wake,
I pray I break from you

I see the flame is burning
You like the pain, I'm in
It gives you life
It give you movement
And you don't mind,
(Don't mind) me losin
Your pretty charms are working
I'll bend my rules a bit
This behavior that I can't defend
(Oh, no)
You’ve found me on the couch again

The price is heavy to pay
The price is heavy to pay
Lie and say I'm ok
Lie and say I'm ok
What you know
What you know
About it
What you know
What you know
About it

**
Inertia
I've got the key
I'm certain
To set me free -
I'm nervous
Unfocused
My purpose
Is tied to the frame
(And) It's all just a game
It's all just a game in your mind
You profit the same
Every time
Every time
It's a crime
All of mine

The price is heavy to pay
The price is heavy to pay
Lie and say I'm ok
Lie and say I'm ok
What you know
What you know
About it
What you know
What you know
About it

***

The price is heavy to pay
The price is heavy to pay
Lie and say I'm ok
Lie and say I'm ok
What you know
What you know
About it
What you know
What you know
About it
